TRUTH HURTS
— Numbers 23:19
There is no doubt that God is slow to anger and that He possesses an abundance of grace, mercy, patience and forgiveness. These truths encourage and empower us, while reminding us that perfection is not God's expectation nor is it a pre-requisite for God-access.
God is also the essence and epitome of truth. His Word is true, absolute, uncompromising and completely dependable and His will and promises are physical manifestations of the undeniable accuracy and sovereignty of that Word.
As a result, despite the fact that God consistently establishes “ways of escape” and mechanisms for rebound, resuscitation and reconciliation, the fact remains that He will always be completely honest with us— even if the truth is painful or in some other way uncomfortable.
God’s often painful honesty is not intended to serve as an indictment, but rather as a mirror so that we might see ourselves as He sees us. God's honesty is intended to show us where course-correction is required. After all, our destiny is also tied to the absolute honest nature of His completely trustworthy Word, meaning that the temporary discomfort that arises when God confronts us with the truth cannot compare to the back-end awesomeness that is attached to His already promised victory!
